SORRY, SOLD! 1965 Hermes 3000 Typewriter
This is a fine and beautiful HERMES 3000, one of the most renowned brands and models of typewriters ever made! It is in perfect condition, mechanically and cosmetically, and has been thoroughly cleaned, serviced, adjusted and aligned. The platen has been refurbished with new rubber and this typewriter has been fitted with a new BACO two-colour ribbon. This is a typing machine that is ready to work for many good years of typing service. And with its brilliant Hermes engineering, it does that with elegance, smoothness and solidity.
Acme typewriters have been the choice of discerning collectors and writers more than 1,000 times since we began selling online in 2016. We safely ship your typewriter from our store in the Netherlands and delivery time to the US averages only 3 days—this is a quicker delivery time even than most shipments from-and-to a US address! In the last 7 years, our typewriters arrived damage-free 99.4% of the time. So please don’t be concerned about buying from us just because we seem far away. Acme typewriters are guaranteed to arrive safely at your door, are covered by a 1-year warranty, and come with lifetime customer-care.
With an ACME Typewriter, you know you are getting a fully-working--as original--typewriter. The only thing that you have to do is sit down, put paper on the roller and start typing. Your typewriter comes with the "Acme" lead certification seal which permanently identifies it as a genuine Acme-restored typewriter and provides for a one-year warranty at no charge. In terms of an investment, the Acme Seal proves that this machine was restored in 2023 by the Acme Type Machine Company. This can add value in the event that you wish to sell this typewriter in the future.
Once in a while, as I work on other sorts of typewriters I begin to wonder if Hermes 3000's are really the apex of typewriter design and construction, as so many believe. Then I sit down and work on one and I realize. . . they are, indeed, the finest all-around typewriter made. (In my humble opinion.) And, truth be told, I have one on my own office desk--not for show, but for USE! And, as you can imagine, I have my choice of any typewriter!
Overall, this Hermes is in excellent condition. The cosmetic condition is excellent. The chrome and aluminum are in top condition with no signs of corrosion. The typing keys are clean and unmarked by use. Both platen roller knobs are absolutely solid. Mechanically, it is in superb working condition. The paper feeder rollers are in perfect condition and soft. The feet are in excellent condition, soft and still grip the desktop well. All mechanical devices (including, but not exclusive of, the ribbon colour selection mechanism, ribbon advance and reverse mechanisms, margin release, etc.) have been checked and adjusted as necessary, and work as originally manufactured. Everything on this typewriter is original to its manufacture and original purchase.
The case/cover is in excellent condition. The chrome pieces are shiny and bright and the handle is clean and intact. The interior is in near-perfect condition with all chrome pieces unblemished.
The keyboard is Swiss QWERTZ with extra character keys and accent keys for foreign languages--especially useful for French. The typeface is Hermes Elite (11 c.p.i.). The keyboard can be changed to QWERTY for an additional fee, to be discussed with the buyer. Based on the serial number this machine was manufactured in 1965.
This fine example of a Hermes 3000 will be packed and shipped with the greatest care to preserve its condition and beauty. We have a lot of experience in shipping typewriters and have an excellent track record for proper packing and safe delivery. It will be fully insured for shipment.
