1959 Hermes Rocket (Baby) Typewriter

An excellent example of this classic and iconic typewriter. This Hermes Rocket (also known as the "Baby") has a rare DeLuxe case in genuine leather with watered-silk lining. The keyboard is original QWERTY with important keys such as "#" and "@". The typewriter itself is in superb condition and is a joy to type with. Look closely at the photos and you will see the beautiful condition of this machine. The case is solid and strong and externally in very fine condition with no real signs of wear or use externally. The zipper, unfortunately. is broken and the internal silk lining is worn in various places. Nonetheless, it looks beautiful and, with the Hermes-branded closing hasp in excellent condition, it effectively remains closed during carrying, transport or storage. 
Hermes is one of the most renowned brands and models of typewriter ever made, and this is a wonderful example of the "Rocket" model, also known as the "Baby", from 1959. This is the perfect portable typing machine, weighing only ~3.6kg/8 lbs! This typewriter is in top condition, mechanically and cosmetically, and is a typing machine that is ready to work for another 65 years of typing service. With its brilliant Hermes engineering, it does that with elegance, smoothness and solidity. 
As mentioned this typewriter has a QWERTY keyboard and a wonderful, compact typeface: Elite with 12 characters per inch. There is a new ribbon wound onto the two original metal ribbon spools (!). The platen is smooth and clean and takes the impression perfectly (see typing sample). There are new rubber feet on the typewriter so that when you remove it from the case, it holds steady on the desktop, or fold-down tray on an airplane. Mechanically, there are no "issues" to remark on; this Hermes works as it originally came from the factory.
