1958 Taylorix Contofix Junior Typewriter (Voss ST Model)
A wild and wonderful typewriter from 1958: the Taylorix Contofix Junior typewriter. The basis of the typewriter itself is a Voss ST typewriter. The "super-structure" can be removed and the typewriter can be used as a normal Voss typewriter. This fabulous typewriter has been fully, professionally reconditioned and comes with a new ribbon, so it is ready to go! It has a QWERTZ keyboard but this can be changed to QWERTY upon request at no additional charge.
The Taylorix Company, of Stuttgart, Germany, made machines to improve the efficiency of office accounting in small businesses. They provided machines and specialized forms that made business accounting more accurate and efficient. The machines they made were adapted to the excellent Voss ST typewriter. These wonderfully wild typewriters are quite rare today, especially in this condition.
This particular Taylorix comes from the estate of an entrepreneur near Stuttgart whose company was always (as was explained to me) an "early adapter" of office machinery. When small-business computers began to be used in the early 1980's, this machine was phased out in favour of electronic bookkeeping.
