SORRY, SOLD! 1954 Olympia SM2 Typewriter — with New Platen!

For an Olympia typewriter you, as the buyer, have a lot of choices. I will suggest that you look carefully at this one. In impeccable condition, and with a new platen, it is working like new. Look at the shine on the chrome of this one, and the unmarred beauty of the "crinkle" finish and you will be as smitten as I am by this particular typewriter. The QWERTY keyboard (as compared with the German QWERTZ or French AZERTY) will allow you to type in the familiar way you are used to.
This Olympia is a beautiful Model SM2 manufactured in 1954. In brilliant condition mechanically and cosmetically, it has been professionally serviced, aligned and adjusted comes with a new ribbon on the two original metal ribbon spools (!!) and is ready to type! It has been adjusted to have a softer and lighter touch than Olympia's generally have. It comes with the original hard case in fine condition, inside and out. It is solid and looks great, although there are various marks of wear. This case is one of the earliest examples of the Olympia "airstream" case. Aficionados will note that it does not have the typical rubber feet of later examples.

Mechanically it is working perfectly, as originally manufactured. Cosmetically, it has only the slightest signs of wear or use. The chrome is in top condition as is the overall finish. The colouring is completely uniform, unmarred by sun-fading or overuse. The rubber on the feet and feeder rollers is in top condition and still appropriately soft. The platen has new rubber, provided by the oldest rubber factory in the Netherlands.
The keyboard is QWERTY, and the typeface is Pica (10 c.p.i.). It has the all-important "@" key, and comes with a new ribbon--on original metal ribbon spools--so that you can start typing immediately.
