We are pleased to offer this OLYMPIA Progress typewriter from 1948. It is in superb condition in every way and has been professionally serviced, aligned and adjusted. This is an extraordinary typewriter; a survivor for 75 years. It has a stunning presence on your desk or in your office. It comes with its two original metal ribbon spools and a new Acme ribbon.

Acme typewriters have been the choice of discerning collectors and writers more than 1,000 times since we began selling online in 2016. We safely ship your typewriter from our store in the Netherlands and delivery time to the US averages only 3 days—this is a quicker delivery time even than most domestic shipments within the US!  Acme typewriters are guaranteed to arrive safely at your door, are covered by a 1-year warranty, and come with lifetime customer-care.

With an ACME Typewriter, you know you are getting a fully-working--as original--typewriter. The only thing that you have to do is sit down, put paper on the roller and start typing. Your typewriter comes with the "Acme" lead certification seal which permanently identifies it as a genuine Acme-restored typewriter and provides for a one-year warranty at no charge. In terms of an investment, the Acme Seal proves that this machine was restored in 2023 by the Acme Type Machine Company. This can add value in the event that you wish to sell this typewriter in the future.

Please forgive the poor photography as we prepare our new photo studio. Our photo studio is undergoing renovations. Note that the first photo is a "stock" ACME photo and the rest are of the actual typewriter for sale.

The Olympia Progress is the immediate precursor to the justly-famous Olympia SM model-line. It is a solid yet smooth typewriter, well-engineered and comfortable to use.

Cosmetically, this typewriter has very few signs of use or wear. It is in superb condition and has not been repainted. The chrome is shiny with only some slight wear on the carriage return lever. The typing keys are in like-new condition.

Mechanically, this typewriter is also in superb condition. The platen-rollers are in fine condition. The platen has an ideal hardness rating of ~90 (85 to 95 is the ideal range). The paper feeder rollers and rubber feet are in lovely condition. Every aspect of the mechanical functioning of this typewriter has been inspected, cleaned and properly lubricated. All necessary adjustments and alignments have been undertaken to restore this typewriter to its original precision and functionality.

Comes with the original case which is in good condition but suffers from wear and use. The handle is strong and fully functional but, sadly, the hasp does not work properly. Nonetheless, it serves well to carry the typewriter, for protection during shipping and for storage if needed.

The keyboard is QWERTY with additional keys for European languages, and the typeface is Olympia's Pica (10 c.p.i.).

This very fine example of an OLYMPIA Progress typewriter will be packed and shipped with the greatest care to preserve its condition and beauty. We have a lot of experience in shipping typewriters and have an excellent track record for proper packing and safe delivery.
