SORRY, SOLD! Rare 1958 Brosette Portable Typewriter
This BROSETTE typewriter, one of the rarest of all mid-century, German portable typewriter brands, is in excellent condition. Among some typewriter aficionados, the Brosette is considered one of the great "lost" models of the post-war period, innovative typewriter design and engineering. (You can read all about it in the links I have listed below.) The total number of Brosettes that were manufactured is believed to be only around 36,000.
This, as you can see from the photos, is a fine example of a rare Brosette. It is in fine condition both cosmetically and mechanically. There are minimal blemishes on the body finish, which is all original. The chrome is perfect. The platen-roller is smooth, clean and receives the type well. The rubber feet are in perfect condition as are the paper feed rollers. This typewriter, like all Acme typewriters, has been thoroughly cleaned, lubricated, aligned and adjusted. It is ready for typing.
Acme typewriters have been the choice of discerning collectors and writers more than 1,000 times since we began selling online in 2016. We safely ship your typewriter from our store in the Netherlands and delivery time to the US averages only 3 days—this is a quicker delivery time even than most shipments from-and-to a US address! In the last 7 years, our typewriters arrived damage-free 99.4% of the time. So please don’t be concerned about buying from us just because we seem far away. Acme typewriters are covered by a 1-year warranty, and come with lifetime customer-care.
With an ACME Typewriter, you know you are getting a fully-working--as original--typewriter. The only thing that you have to do is sit down, put paper on the roller and start typing. Your typewriter comes with the "Acme" lead certification seal which permanently identifies it as a genuine Acme-restored typewriter and provides for a one-year warranty at no charge. In terms of an investment, the Acme Seal proves that this machine was restored in 2023 by the Acme Type Machine Company. This can add value in the event that you wish to sell this typewriter in the future.
The Brosette is a fine, swift typer with a very light feel to it. It has some very interesting innovations and it is a nice, smooth, highly portable typewriter. It is what many people call a "super-portable" typewriter weighing-in at around 9 lbs.
The keyboard on this Brosette is original QWERTY and the typeface is a Congress Elite (101 c.p.i.)
The case is in a condition commensurate with the machine itself. In excellent condition, it has only the most minor marks of use.
